Daniel Craig refuses to say whether he will agree to the next Bond film

Bond star Daniel Craig is said to have gone “off grid” and is refusing to engage in talks with movie bosses about whether he will star in the next 007 film.

According to sources, bosses at MGM are now panicking because they have already started planning the next Bond film, which is due out during 2018, but have not yet had confirmation from Mr Craig that he will definitely be in it.

Mr Craig and executives at MGM are said to have reached something of a “stalemate”. While MGM has offered Mr Craig more money and asked to find out his availability for filming, they have not heard from him as yet.

Will he or won’t he?

The plan is for the next Bond movie, which would follow Spectre, to be released in cinemas in October 2018. However, currently, they do not even know if they have an actor to play the famous spy or any details of when filming could take place.

Whether Mr Craig agrees to get involved next time around or not is also said to be a key part of the decision making process for Sony Pictures which could co finance the movie. Mr Craig already caused consternation when he said that he would rather slit his wrists than play Bond another time.

However, he seemed to make a U-turn earlier this year when he said that he had the best job in the world and would keep doing it as long as he found it enjoyable. He said it would be difficult to find a role which would top that of Bond and he would miss it terribly.

Mr Craig is now working alongside Barbara Broccoli, who is the Bond franchise executive producer, in the New York stage version of Shakespeare’s Othello, so she may have some sway with the star.
