The story revolves around the housewife Sulochana, who is fondly known as Sulu. She gets hired as a night RJ and after that, her life changes drastically.

Vidya Balan is quite sober in her performance. She is playing the role of a housewife who gets constantly taunted about her failures by the people around her. She is frequently reminded of her failure in Class XII. Her aspiration to become independent and work to share the family responsibilities never takes off. But she continuously finds out ways to keep her engaged by participating in the locality talent events. The rest of the film deals with her taking efforts to overcome the obstacles that come her way.

The overall ratings of the film were quite satisfactory by the film critics.

The movie was released on Friday, November 17, 2017, and the collection made on the 1st day was quite satisfactory. According to the reports, the film earned 2.87 Crore.

Day 2

On Saturday, the second day of the movie, being a weekend comparatively had a good collection of 4.25 Crore.

Day 3

The weekend proved quite fruitful for the Vidya Balan starrer movie. On Sunday, the movie did a business of 5 Crore. Thus, in the first three days, the movie made a collection of approximately 12 Crore.

Day 4

The collections of the movie completely dipped down on Monday. The working Monday may have impacted the collection made was quite low only being 1.50 Crore.

Day 5

The movie had yet another bad day with a poor collection in the box office of 1.50 Crore.

Day 6

With a below average collection, the film was able to collect 1.67 Crore on Wednesday.

Day 7

By making a collection of approximately 1.5 Crore, the film did a good performance in its first week.
